Hey Jen, great post. Very moving. I was pleasantly surprised that Evelyn's SK class was talking about the earthquake in Hait and asked the kids to bring in money. No note was sent home to the parents but Evelyn thought it was important enough to remember. I'm not sure if she's actually seen any or much footage on the earthquake - she's not really on the computer like Mason - but she knows that some people really needed help. So she went into her piggybank this morning and took out around $6.26 and put it in a little purse with a zipper and put in in her backpack to bring to school. I don't think there's much left in her piggybank but she didn't seem to mind. I'm just amazed that she did this on her own. I didn't prompt her, she knew it was important and she said "we have to help those people". My heart swelled with pride and I hope that she continues to be a caring individual as she grows older and wants to reach out to people when they need help.
